From Speed to Strategy: How Realtors Can Win in 2025 & Beyond
May 25, 2025
You need a strategy. ♟️
When did we stop playing games?
Probably about the time we got a job and bills. Maybe earlier if we got real serious about our school and future career.
Before that, everything was a game. Do you remember?
And in most games, the players with the best strategies and a bit of luck usually won.
What if we got back to playing and viewed our business as a game to play rather than work to do?
I bet it would change your attitude, approach, and actions.
How have you been playing the game? 🤷♂️
The first step to get started is to review what strategy you've been using in your business so far.
Most people do what they've always done. It's what's familiar, comfortable, and somewhat effective.
The challenge is if you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten.
This means you experience a constant back and forth between feast and famine.
If the market is hot, you'll see your business pick up and vice versa.
Plus, you already know you're leaving a lot of opportunity on the table - a cost that's easy to forget but adds up.
If you want to play a game and find consistent growth, you'll need a new strategy.
2020-2022 was all about speed. 💨
2023-2024 was all about survival. 🥵
2025+ will be all about strategy. 🎯
The last 5 years have tested us all in different ways.
During the boom of 2020-2022, it felt like shooting fish in a barrel. Those who could move the quickest closed the most deals.
You didn't have to be too strategic. You mainly needed to be fast.
As prices and rates increased into 2023, the market shifted away from speed and a lot of agents struggled. Suddenly, real estate was hard because the costs to buy went up and clients weren't as plentiful.
This was a transition where the winners were the ones that survived and kept playing the real estate game.
Today, we are in a time where it's no longer about speed, but rather the quality of your strategy.
Unfortunately, most agents don't have an actual strategy.
They do a little bit of this, try and little bit of that, copy what they see other agents doing, and wonder why they're not finding success.
Let's change that...
3 questions to define your strategy 🤔
One of the most impactful things you can do for your business is write down your exact strategy.
To help, here are 3 questions that will guide you through some of the most important points you'll want to clarify in this process:
- 🎯 Who do you want to build your business to help?
Most agents proudly tell people they help anyone buy anywhere in their area. That's a mistake. Remember, the best businesses are designed to help specific people with specific problems. - 📊 What parts of the market are growing?
You can have the best product in the world, but if it's in a shrinking market, you'll always be going uphill. Make sure your strategy aligns with areas of strength in the local market. - 🏆 How will you define success?
Most games come with a rule book that define how you play the game and when there's a winner. In business, you get to pick how you play and what winning looks like. On top of that, we're in a game that doesn't limit winning to one player. Everyone can win at their own game and there's no requirement that anyone lose.
Do yourself a favor and spend an hour brainstorming these questions this week. Your strategy will evolve over time (it's supposed to), so no pressure to get it 100% right this time.
Just get something down on paper and work on it as you go.
You've got this! And if you want help along the way, I'll be opening 10 spots in my Market Insiders coaching membership in August. Add your name to the waitlist to get an invite. 🚀
