In a (business) pickle? This will get out of it.
Apr 20, 2026
My kids are into baseball these days.
This weekend, we watched The Sandlot. What a classic.
In case you don't know or remember, the main plot centers around a group of boys in a big pickle.
They're trying to get back a Babe Ruth autographed ball hit into the "scary" neighbor's back yard.
They spend days going through a number of complex attempts to retrieve the ball without going into the yard because of the "child-eating" guard dog named The Beast.
After repeatedly failing to get the ball, one of the kids musters up the courage to jump the fence and get the ball himself.
He ultimately ends up knocking on the neighbor's door to bring back his dog and explain what happened.
And you know the neighbor's response??
"Why didn't you come knock on my door? I'd a gotten the ball for you." 🤦♂️
After all the time, effort, and stress of trying to get the ball the hard way, the boys realize they could have just knocked and gotten the ball back the easy way.
This got me thinking...

🤔 What "beasts" are we creating in our business?
We all know every deal has decent odds of turning into a big pickle.
There's usually a few different ways you can find yourself in trouble: a hesitant client, tough inspection, iffy loan approval, or unrealistic sellers.
And these can easily turn into our own "beasts."
Because of that, we put off making decisions, stop communicating with clients, play it safe, and sometimes give up entirely...
All of these things are keeping you from having the business we really want.
They're costing you time, money, and a whole lot of stress.
But just like the boys in The Sandlot, we usually make things a bigger deal than they need to be.
And if you want to get out of your business pickles, try these two steps:
☝️ First, stop assuming the worst and start believing it will work out.
There are enough problems outside our control that exist. There's no reason to make any more.
Get in the habit of believing things will work out instead of panicking like a life is on the line.
✌️ Second, we need to look for the easy solution and ask for help earlier in the process.
There's merit in solving a problem on your own, for sure.
But, at what cost?
The smartest (and easiest) way to get out of most pickles is to ask for help before small challenges turn into scary beasts.
And for a lot of agents, questions from clients about the market constantly feel like a beast of a challenge.
They've done the hard work of finding the people, creating an action plan, and setting them up for success, only to watch it fall apart when the "what if's" start coming.
So, instead of trying the hard way, just knock on my door and let me help you get out of your pickles. 🤝

Realtors: want to be confident discussing the market? 🚀
If you're like so many of the Realtors I meet, you know understanding the local market is one of the most important things you can do as a real estate agent.
Everyone asks "how's the market?" when you meet them and the way you respond either opens a door of opportunity or shuts it.
Most Realtors have the stats but don't know what to do with them. There's so much going on that it gets confusing quickly.
If this sounds like you, My Market Insiders coaching could be just what you need. It's part local market updates, part business strategy so that you can be clear about exactly what's happening in the market and how to use that expertise to attract your ideal clients.
Members rate it 9.8 out of 10 for value to their business and increase their confidence talking about the market by 24%.
